WHEN MAKING A GAME:
Project ORKA becomes resource to help you speed up development and avoid starting from scratch.
It enables you to look at or even use already existing implementations for certain concepts.
Lets say you wanted to implement a pathfinding algorithm, you can look up existing modules within Project ORKA and use those as a guide to create your own or straight up drag and drop them in to your code base.
You can also just take a similar existing project and start from there.


WHEN MODDING A GAME:
Project ORKA becomes a tool to easily access and change every piece of code that a game was built with.
This means that you have full control over not only the games data, but also the entire game down to the very core - the engine.
No decryption, no reverse engineering, no hacking, no compromises, just pure code accessible right there and then, which helps a lot with debugging and fixing compatibility issues.
Obviously, modifying scripts, editing meshes and replacing textures or shaders works as usual.
WHEN PLAYING A GAME:
Games built with Project ORKA have no compromises, everything can be built with pure C++, meaning there are no scripting languages or conversions that could hurt performance.
It is designed to give you the best possible experience.
The nature of ORKA allows games to evolve and a rating systems makes sure that the good stuff floats to the top.
This means that your favourite games will never stop getting better.
Bugfixes, overhauls, balancing, new content, better graphics and so much more available for every game.

What do we need to do?
THE FRAMEWORK
Instead of creating games that are moddable, we create mods that can build a game – any game to be precise.
As a developer you will be creating small modules that represent a system or idea. So, you are not creating a full game, just the idea or concept that you want to see.
Those modules, together with other resorces like meshes and textures, will make up a mod that can be up and downloaded.
With a collection of those mods you can make a full game, tool or program. The exiting part is, because those games are modular, they are extremely flexible when it comes to modding. Every single part, from planets to the underlying bits and bytes, can be replaced and is free for everyone to change.
THE PLATFORM
The platform is essentially a modding hub, where you can download mods, collections and resources.
For playing games or creating new games. Simply click on what you like, download and start doing what you like.
Project ORKA is about creative freedom and in order to achieve that we will use a special license, so everyone in the community can collaborate without anyone using your ideas for their own profit.
Built into the framework we will also have a crediting system that tracks who worked on which mods. So that donations and any kind of revenue can go straight to you guys. (provided it exceeds the maintenance costs.)
That said, Project ORKA will be as free and transparent for as long as possible.
THE GAMES
Without games no gamers and without game engines no game developers. Thats what we need to change as soon as possible.
Creating an easy to read, easy to use game engine that can support smaller projects and scale well enough with just a couple lines of code is the first step.
The second step is creating small, but interesting games that people like to play. The last step is to make noise. As much as we can. Because with every single person added to our community we can create all kinds of games, faster and easier than ever before.
